Well, unfortunately today we were unable to gather together the prosecutor, judge, and representative for the Children Welfare Union all at the same time. Our CWU rep had another hearing today that she had to appear for. The judge rescheduled for all of us to be there on Tuesday at 4:00 to wrap things up. Oh how we hate the weekends! Augh! Thankfully none of these delays have any effect on the final outcome…Ava becoming our daughter officially. But, it has made for a very difficult time for James and I. We saw May 21st as the light at the end of this tunnel and we were disappointed when things didn’t go as we expected. Only 4 more days now to wait. This experience has been both the best and worst time of our lives. We have had the highest of highs, (meeting our daughter who is the light of our lives) , and the lowest of lows, (dealing with situations in a foreign country that are 100% out of our control). We are more and more homesick by the day and so we ask for your prayers that the judge would waive our 15 waiting period. This would be a miracle but our God is Big!
We are excited to give all the details of our court experience once it’s all wrapped up on Tuesday. We will share one fun story with you now. On Thursday after court all we wanted to do was go to our apartment, change into our P.J.’s, get some hot coco and watch a movie. As Iliya dropped us off (in the rain by the way) we realized that our keys were nowhere to be found. We did get to go to a friend’s house for a few hours, which was nice, but the whole situation only added to the frustration of the day. Oh and have we mentioned that we haven’t had hot water in 2 weeks? Yea, I’d say we’re ready for the cultural experience to be done.
We got many darling pictures of our little sweetie today but our wonderful friends Peggy and Jan are going to dinner with us tonight to get our minds off of this so we will post some later tonight.
Thanks for your continuous support and love which is reaching us all the way across the world.
James, Kari, and Ava

It sounds like the Lord is really putting your faith to the test - but He will do miracles! He already has, bringing you guys this far. Just keep trusting him to get through each day at a time. We're praying constantly!
Last night I dreamed that I flew to Kaz, and Kari and Ava walked into the room and I just started crying because I was so happy to see you! That's how much I miss you!
Your post reminds me of those days before court that I had almost 5 years ago...what had started out as so much adventure and promise, became clouded with anxiousness and trepidation. It still amazes me how bright the trees and the sun shone as I walked out of the courtroom after the proceedings...My whole perspective of the situation was altered once I heard the words, " Your petition for adoption has been granted." May you find the skies as bright and breeze as refreshing on Tuesday!! Quaintance
Unbelievable! Or not! Well, when we all get you guys home in your condo, we're gonna have to give you a good scrubbing! What with no hot water and all! Laughing! I have been reading Christian novels lately about immigrants coming to Amerika in the mid to late 1800's. They really had a rough way to go! But I learned how they made bread w/no yeast. Its what we know as sourdough! I made my first loaf and it is delicious. Maybe I can bring a loaf when we come to see you or YOU come to see us. Love to you!

First HUGS. Second I wish I could send you some hot water! I am so sorry things are delayed again, but know that when this is all said and done these days will end up being so small in the lifetime you will have with Ava. Being in this process too (our dossier is still at the MOE- no region yet) I don't understand why it is so hard for the adoptive parents. Just believe that everything happens for a reason, have faith, and know that there are so many people pulling for you- even though we are halfway around the world. We are praying that your waiting period gets waived, and we are praying that Tuesday is so smooth!
Huge hugs!!!!
Take care!
